Meet Leah
Leah is a certified personal trainer specializing in core and pelvic floor exercise, and she has been featured as a health expert by major media outlets, including NPR, goop and Good Morning America. Leah created and co-founded Every Mother (2018) and The Dia Method (2013). In addition to working directly with clients, Leah is a published researcher who co-authored two medical studies with leading NYC institutions. Both of these studies demonstrate the efficacy of her exercise protocols to improve core strength, pelvic floor function and lower back health.
Leah’s unique approach to deep core training earned unparalleled clinical validation in 2014 when researchers at Weill Cornell Medical School published a pilot study in ACOG’s Green Journal that followed 63 women, all of whom achieved full resolution of diastasis recti in less than 12 weeks of training with Leah. Diastasis recti, also known as abdominal separation, is a common condition that affects over 60% of first-time, singleton pregnancies. DR can also occur in non-pregnant people, including men and athletes.
In 2021, Hospital for Special Surgery collaborated with Leah on a prospective trial of her online program and published their findings in the Journal of Women’s and Pelvic Health Physical Therapy. The clinical trial found that Leah’s program significantly improved diastasis rectus abdominis and related symptoms, including stress urinary incontinence and low back pain. Musculoskeletal ultrasound imaging of the linea alba revealed that Leah’s online exercise protocol significantly narrowed the inter-rectus distance at all measurement sites, both while the rectus abdominis was engaged and while at rest. 95% of study participants reported that they would recommend Leah’s program to a friend.
Leah holds an MA in English and a BA in Psychology, and she lives with her husband, two children and their sweet family dog in the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood of San Francisco. They love biking and walking to the city’s many wonderful green spaces, and they play highly competitive games of family soccer in their backyard as often as they can.
